U11B Coach's Letter

Hello everyone,

I’m excited to introduce myself as the head coach for the Kanata Rangers U11 B Competitive Girls team for the 2026-2027 season. My name is Jamie Vossen, and this will be my third-year coaching with KGHA.

Hockey has been a central part of my life from an early age. I’ve had the privilege of competing at high levels across the CIAU, OHL, MJHL, and NOJHL. A few personal highlights include winning the Manitoba Junior Hockey League Championship, being named MJHL Top Defenseman, and earning First All-Star Team honors in both the MJHL and NOJHL. Along the way, I’ve learned from some incredible coaches, and I’m truly looking forward to passing that knowledge and experience on to your daughter this season.

My approach to coaching is built around creating a space where players feel supported, challenged, and excited to come to the rink. I believe that growth happens when you combine hard work with a positive environment, and I aim to strike that balance every time we step on the ice. This season, our focus will be on developing strong individual skills while building a team that plays with heart, respects the game, and genuinely enjoys competing together.

When it comes to selecting a team, I’m looking for more than just hockey ability. I value players who show up ready to work, listen with an open mind, and bring energy to the group. Equally important are families who understand the value of being part of something bigger than any one player. I truly believe that a team built on respect, effort, and a shared commitment makes for a rewarding season both on and off the ice.

Tryouts are just around the corner, and I’ll be watching closely for qualities like effort, coachability, hockey sense, and the way players carry themselves in competitive situations. I’m really looking forward to seeing the athletes in action and getting a sense of the group we’ll be building together.

Tournament Plans:

We’re planning to take part in 4 to 5 tournaments throughout the season:
• Two away tournaments
• Two to three within our Eastern District

I’ll share more details once tournament schedules are finalized.

I’m looking forward to a great season ahead and can’t wait to get started.
